Tony Lombardi Talks Ravens Injuries
Tony Lombardi with the Russell Street Report joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to talk about the Ravens and their costly victory against the Rams.
Scott asked Tony what he thinks about the Ravens "year from hell." "It really is (the year from hell), you look at 19 guys on injured reserve and then look at some of the guys that aren't a part of the team that are counting against the cap. 58% of the Ravens cap right now isn't even playing. It's tough to win football games in the NFL that way."
Scott later asked Tony about how Joe Flacco's injury plays into his contract negotiations. "Joe Flacco and Joe Linta, Flacco's agent, will approach it the same way they approached it last time. They played hardball with the Ravens. They can play hardball again but there are a lot of unknowns here. How do you really grade Joe Flacco when he hasn't had the weapons on the outside? How do you grade the Ravens offense and his ability to work with Marc Trestman? What do you pay him? Is he worth Aaron Rodgers kind of money or is he worth something less than that? How does that also translate into what the team needs to do from a salary cap perspective in adding additional free agents if they can? I hope that at the end of the day that Joe (Flacco) and Joe Linta and the Ravens get together and do something that's fair for all sides and they can all walk away from the negotiating table with a win."
