BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Former Mayor Sheila Dixon issued a statement on Tuesday regarding the upcoming trial of Baltimore officer William Porter, one of the six officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray.

“Baltimore has been through great challenges this year, and I am confident we can get through these next steps together as a community,” she said in the statement.

In the statement, she acknowledged the “lack of faith and distrust” over the legal process, and asked that all residents remain respectful throughout the duration of the trial.

Baltimore officer William Porter’s trial date is scheduled for November 30.
