Darren O'Day: "Excited For The Next 4 Years"

Orioles Relief Pitcher Darren O'Day joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to talk about his return to Baltimore.

O'Day signed a 4-year $31 million deal that became official Monday night. The right handed side armer has been nothing but consistent; pitching in at least 68 games with a .939 WHIP in the past four years. "The name of the game is consistency and that's what I strive for everyday. I want the manager to know what he's going to get when he puts me into a game. I love working with Buck and that really was a big factor in me coming back."

Scott Garceau talked about the fact that Darren has been highly regarded by his peers for more reasons than his on field performance. "All those guys (teammates) talked about you as a leader on that team and in the clubhouse. There is a whole lot more than just throwing the baseball that gave you value to this team and I'm sure you're proud of the fact that you do some of those other things too." Darren talked about his relationship with his teammates, "to hear those things from those guys meant a lot to me. I try to help guys out because I wouldn't of even made it to free agency or half as long without some of the older guys in my past helping me along; leading me and showing me what was going to keep me in the league and make me successful. So that's what I try to do for these guys. I try to help them, to help the team and to help themselves for later on in their career and if people notice that then it really makes me feel like it was all worth it."
