The Norris & Davis Show Best Of - Week Of December 19th

This week's edition of the Norris & Davis Show Best Of includes interviews with Charles Davis of NFL Network, London Fletcher of the CBS Sports Network, and John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

CHARLES DAVIS

Charles joined Ed and Steve to discuss the Ravens performance against the Seahawks on Sunday and the latest news and notes around the NFL.

Steve asked Charles about his impressions of the ravens on Sunday and whether the Ravens showed any quit during the blowout loss. Charles noted that he didn't see any quit from Ravens players despite the large deficit, "there was a lot of frustration at the end of the game, but no quit."

Ed asked Charles about his thoughts on the performance of the defense and whether they were to blame for the loss on Sunday. Charles believes that the Ravens offense is more to blame because of their inability to move the chains and score points all afternoon, "not at all. Remember the play disparity. Seattle was able to stay on the field by picking up first downs. Once it started going in the wrong direction, the Ravens offense really wasn't able to hold onto the football. I think it falls on the offense."

Charles went on to discuss the quarterback controversy in Denver, what we can expect from the Bengals with Andy Dalton going down with an injured hand, and his work with SeatGeek.com this holiday season.

LONDON FLETCHER

London joined Ed and Steve to talk about the NFL games this weekend including the Ravens vs the Chiefs.

Steve asked London about his thoughts on the Ravens signing Ryan Mallet. London believes the Ravens are looking towards next season with this signing, "I think its more of the Ravens looking to the future. I know that he had some personal issues addressed, which may have lead to him being released by Houston, but I think that Baltimore is one of the few organizations that can turn a player's life and career around."

Ed asked London what he thinks the problem with the Ravens defense has been this season. London noted that the loss of Terrell Suggs early in the season has had a big impact, "its not what we're accustomed to seeing in Baltimore. Suggs going down was a big loss. It has forced Dumervil to become a starter rather than just playing as a pass rusher. He's not the biggest guy, so teams look to run his way and as a result he wears down as the game goes on."

London went on to discuss the Denver Broncos quarterback situation, how the Cincinnati Bengals will cope without Andy Dalton, and the chances of the Redskins winning the NFC East.

JOHN MCCLAIN

John joined Ed and Steve to talk about the Ravens addition of former Texans QB Ryan Mallett.

Steve asked John what the issues Ryan Mallett has been facing during his time in the NFL. John noted that Ryan has made a habit of being habitually late for team activities, "we didn't know that he was habitually late until he was cut by the Texans. It started when he didn't show up to practice because of what he said was due to oversleeping. It hit rock bottom when he missed the flight to Miami. I'm happy for him to get another opportunity. Its not often that this late in the season to be able to get a quarterback like Ryan Mallett."

Ed asked John whether he think Ryan Mallett can be a great quarterback in the NFL. John believes the potential is there, "he has the potential to be very good in the NFL. The Ravens may like him enough to keep him through the off-season program and then give him a shot next year."

John went on to discuss his thoughts on Ryan Mallett both as a player and person, and what Ravens fans can expect from him both on and off the field.
