Steve Davis: Should The Ravens Use Or Lose The Yellow Pants?

Well, you know it's a bad season when fans have run out of things to complain about, so what are they complaining about now? The uniforms.

The gold pants sported by the Ravens players last Sunday were not a big hit with the fans.  My first reaction was that maybe it was mandated by the NFL because of the 50th Super Bowl and 50 year anniversaries are celebrated with gold? However, that was not it.

John Harbaugh said that the gold pants have been in the works for a while, and, had the team been playing better, probably would have been unveiled earlier in the season.

I am not one to bash uniforms; I am more concerned with how the team is playing, not what they're wearing.  That said, these pants elicited quite the negative response.

My take: I didn't think it was the best look or color combination.

Harbaugh must have been made aware of that because he joked that next year the Ravens will have a contest to pick the third pants color, as each team is allowed 3 jerseys and pants.

Sounds like a great idea and, knowing the Ravens excellent marketing department, probably a great opportunity. I envision them modeling some new pant designs and letting fans vote on their website. Just a guess on my part.

So should the Ravens use or lose the yellow pants?

UPDATE: The Ravens have uploaded a 'mock' voting platform for fans to cast their votes on uniforms. You can vote here!
