Tony Lombardi Talks Ravens Sweep Of Steelers

Tony Lombardi with the Russell Street Report joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to recap the Ravens sweep of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Everyone except the Ravens expected the rival Steelers to come into Baltimore and steam roll the Ravens. Tony certainly didn't expect this outcome. "I thought it would be a spanking by the Steelers but kudos to John Harbaugh and his coaching staff for looking at this as their Super Bowl. It reminded me a little bit of those games back in 2000. They managed the game well; they didn't turn the ball over, they flipped the field position in their favor throughout the game and they controlled the clock. That formula worked in 2000 and it worked again yesterday."

The Ravens have no chance at the playoffs this year so that means that they are more likely than not looking to next year. Ken Weinman who was filling in for Jeremy Conn talked about the Ravens lack of speed this year; he asked Tony what he thinks the Ravens biggest need is this off-season. "I couldn't agree with you more. They are lacking speed offensively and defensively. If I had to pinpoint one position I'd say it was an edge rusher. It makes the defense better, it creates more turnovers and it makes the secondary better. I also think they need some coverage speed at safety because Kendrick Lewis is not getting it done. I think they need somebody to play center field."
