Week 16: NFL Surprises And Shutouts

It was a Christmas miracle for many NFL fans during Week 16 of the 2015 season, with an especially sweet win for the Baltimore Ravens over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

  1. Final Score: Ravens 20, Steelers 17 -  The Ravens haven't had the easiest time this season and with more than half the team on IR or injured, those that were on the field on Sunday held the lead for the entire game. Led by new QB Ryan Mallett, who had a career-high game, the Ravens made the very first touchdown of the season in what was essentially a Super Bowl-type game in the abysmal 2015 season. But the ravens came out on top. So despite a pretty terrible season, the Ravens were able to sweep the rival Steelers and shut down their current playoff chances (which is pretty damn sweet).
  2. Final Score: Jets 26, Patriots 20 - The Jets won over Patriots in a overtime upset as Eric Decker's 6-yard touchdown catch on the first drive of overtime, after New England stunningly chose to kick off, lifted the Jets to a 26-20 victory that put New York in position to make the playoffs.
  3. Final Score: Falcons 20, Panthers 13 - In a change of events for Cam Newton and the Panthers, who had been undefeated with a perfect season on the horizon, lost to the Falcons. The Panthers, now 14-1, may still very likely earn home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs, but the hopes for the team to make history and potentially join the 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only unbeaten Super Bowl champion has been shut down after the 20-13 loss to the Falcons.
  4. Final Score: Cardinals 38, Packers 8 - Arizona was able to sack Aaron Rodgers eight times and return two fumbles for touchdowns on Sunday in a dominating 38-8 victory that clinched a first-round playoff bye for the streaking Cardinals.
