BALTIMORE (WJZ)– A man convicted of murder at the center of a popular podcast will be headed back to court next week.

In November, a Baltimore Circuit Court judge granted Adnan Syed’s request to introduce evidence related to an alibi witness and cell phone evidence pertaining to the case.

Syed is scheduled to appear in court at 9:00 a.m. on February 3rd through the 5th.

Syed, who is currently serving a life sentence,  was convicted back in 2000, for killing his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee.

A witness previously stated in an affidavit that she was in the library with Syed when Lee was killed.

Last year, the ‘Serial’ podcast reopened the case in weekly installments, drawing in millions of listeners. Host Sarah Koenig used the podcast to investigate the case and raised questions about the defense attorney, the late Cristina Gutierrez.

Syed is being represented by Baltimore trial attorney C. Justin Brown.
