Baltimore Restaurant Week Extended, Thanks To Blizzard

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- If you're looking for a good meal at a bargain price in Baltimore, you can still get one. The annual Restaurant Week has been extended.

Ron Matz reports you can thank Old Man Winter.

The blizzard took a big bite out of Baltimore Restaurant Week---but it's heating up again at restaurants like Pazo. The special menus have been extended.

"The blizzard knocked out the first week of Restaurant Week so a lot of people who had reservations just couldn't get in. So with the Downtown Partnership, everyone got together and said, `Let's give these people a shot to come in.' That's the point. Come and enjoy it without two feet of snow on the ground," said Tony Foreman, Pazo.

At Sabatino's in Little Italy, time for old favorites like clams casino and the legendary Bookmaker salad.

"What you will find on both our lunch and dinner menus are all teh old favorites. At the end of the day, people want to eat what they love," said Lisa Morekas, Sabatino's. "We have chicken parmesan, veal francais, shrimp Fra Diablo, the Bookmaker salad...all of the most popular and most loved entrees that we serve here."

At at Pazo, they love Chef Mario's chicken soup.

"You want to build relationships with new clients who want to check out the restaurant and hopefully become regulars and see what we do through the seasons because the menu changes all the time," Foreman said.

More than 65 restaurants are taking part in the extension. Many are continuing their deals through Sunday.

"We figured in the wintertime, it's cold, it gets dark early, it's miserable so everybody wants comfort food. So we went old school with our menu this year," Morekas said.
