The serial podcast of Syed's case went viral last year, and helped spark the hearing about evidence that was and wasn't produced at his murder trial.

Especially alibi witness Asia McClain's who says she spoke with Syed about his breakup with Lee the day of the murder, saying he said "There was no hard feelings, they were still friends."

"He was very sweet about it. His demeanor. His actions. I couldn't reconcile he killed her," said McClain in court.

"The big issue is that we win on the issues and I'm pretty sure we're going to. Our issues are strong. Our lawyer's amazing," said Rabia Chaudrey, a friend of the Syed family.

But the prosecutor hammered at McClain's memory and motives. It went on for hours.

"It's been a grueling, grilling cross examination by the attorney general. She's held up well, though just recently she did break down when talking about Hae Min Lee who was also a friend of hers," said UMD law professor Doug Colbert.

Syed's lawyers will also challenge the technical details of cellphone location, which placed Syed at Hae Min Lee's burial spot in his murder trial.

There was a large presence by both the Lee and Syed families in the courtroom. They declined to speak to WJZ.

If you were a "Serial" fan you're in luck!

According to our media partner The Baltimore Sun, Sarah Koenig is releasing new mini-episodes related to Syed's post-conviction hearings.

The first 15 minute episode titled "Day 01" is available HERE.
