Elementary School Volunteer Admits To Making Child Porn

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- A Maryland school volunteer is accused of producing child pornography and police say he admitted to filming the sexual acts on school grounds.

As Linh Bui reports, details of the case are disturbing.

Prince George's County police say they are in the early stages of what could be a months-long investigation.

A volunteer teacher's assistant at Judge Sylvania Woods Elementary School in Glenarden, police say 22-year-old Deonte Carraway used his position to prey on children.

"We believe that Carraway targeted his young victims and videotaped vile sexual acts between minors during the school day on school grounds," said an official.

Carraway faces 10 counts of felony child pornography, among other charges.

Police say they recovered more than 40 videos and that Carraway sexually abused some of the victims.

"There are 10 victims, who range in age from nine to 13 years old," the official said.

Parents are shocked and outraged.

"What type of background checks did they do?" asked one.

"What happened to the director? He should be fined; he should be jailed! How does he not know that he has people doing that in his school?" said another.

Carraway is active on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Kik. Law enforcement officials say Kik is commonly used by sexual predators.

"We were notified by the uncle of a student that they saw a nude photo on the child's phone on the application Kik. That's how they were relaying the messages back and forth," said a police official.

Police say Carraway also produced videos in other buildings and private homes. They're looking for any other possible victims.

A spokesperson for Prince George's County schools say they did perform a background check on Carraway and that he did not have a criminal record.

Carraway is being held on $1,000,000 bond.
