Roch Kubatko with MASN Sports joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to talk about the latest free agency rumors surrounding the Orioles.

Reports have come out in the past week that Baltimore is negotiating a three year deal with free agent right hander Yovani Gallardo. If the Orioles were to sign Gallardo, it would cost them their 14th overall pick in the 2016 draft. Roch talked about the chances of that signing coming to fruition, “last time I checked earlier today, the Orioles are still optimistic that this is going to get done. Clearly they are the favorite unless some other team swoops in here, which has been known to happen but I would expect it to get done. I just don’t know when.”

Free agent outfielder Dexter Fowler has also been connected to possibly joining the Orioles in 2016. Much like Yovani Gallardo, Fowler would also cost the Orioles a draft pick (29th overall). Roch talked about Baltimore’s willingness to forfeit those draft picks to improve the team for 2016. “I’ve talked to people in the organization who think that Fowler is actually more important to them than Gallardo as far as if you’re going to give up a draft pick because he’s an everyday player, he could be your Right Fielder, he could be your lead-off hitter, he’s a big on base guy which they desperately need…so Fowler makes a lot of sense for them.”
