So the first order of business is done, as the Ravens inked a contract extension with Joe Flacco. Flacco had a $28.55 million cap hit in 2016 and it actually was scheduled to go up in 2017, so restructuring was a must. Flacco gets a $40 million signing bonus that can be spread out through the length of the contract. The move saves the Ravens $6 million off of the cap this season.
At today’s press conference Ozzie Newsome said that he believes Joe Flacco’s best football is ahead of him and he believe the success of the Ravens lies on his shoulders. Now that this is behind them, it allows the Ravens to figure out what they want to do in free agency and also allows them to focus on the draft.
