Jeremy Conn: Welcome To The Clubhouse, Pedro

The Orioles have agreed in principle to a 1 year 5.5 Million dollar deal with Pedro Alvarez.  He can also earn up to another 1.5 Million in incentives.  He is not the piece that most fans were hoping for, but he is a power left handed bat.  The Orioles needed a lead off bat, a corner outfielder and a player who can get on base.  Pedro Alvarez doesn't check off any of those boxes, but he is a decent addition.

Alvarez hit 27 Homer's last year and should be able to bring that power to Camden Yards.  This move will more than likely move Mark Trumbo to Right Field and keep Chris Davis at First Base.  Alvarez was drafted as a Third Baseman and played a lot of First base for the Pirates last season.  But I wouldn't look for him to be bringing his glove to the ball park all that much. This move we more than likely end the Jimmy Parades experiment.  You cant have more than one guy on your team that doesn't play a position.
