Brittany Ghiroli With A Spring Training Update On The Orioles Live From Sarasota

Brittany Ghiroli covers the Orioles for MLB.com.

Brittany joined Ed and Steve live from Orioles spring training in Sarasota, FL.

Tune in below to hear more:

Brittany started by talking about Kevin Gausman getting a cortisone shot and whether he'll be ready for opening day or not saying, "I don't think they're going to go there yet, they're still hopeful...It will depend on when he throws next, it's probably unlikely that he slots in there but it's not definite."

As for whether or not fans and the team should be worried about the injury, Brittany said, "it's definitely troublesome that it is happening this early...the Orioles have really been telling teams they need another starter and they're looking."

When asked about if the team should be concerned about Chris Davis hitting .130 in the Spring, Brittany said, "I don't think there's a whole lot of concern with Chris Davis right now...that's the kind of hitter he is, he'll hit 10 homers one week and bat .150 the next."

As for Matt Wieters' injury concerns, Brittany said, "he threw and took some swings for the first time since the elbow soreness...it's too far away from opening day to say for sure whether he is out or not."

Brittany also talked about young prospects who have impressed so far this spring and may possible earn spots on the roster.
