Report: Woman Attacked In DC Because She's Muslim

WASHINGTON (WJZ)-- A woman claims she was verbally attacked for being Muslim outside of a Starbucks in Washington, D.C., according to WUSA9.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. on April 21 in the 5500 block of Connecticut Avenue NW.

The woman tells WUSA9 that she was using the free WiFi outside of Starbucks when the alleged suspect said, "You are a worthless piece of trash and a Muslim," and "We don't want you here in this country."

Cell phone obtained by WUSA9 captured some of the insults.

Police did respond to the scene, but said they "can't do anything about words...it's free speech."

WUSA9 reports that after police left the suspect then "snuck up on her and poured an unknown liquid-like substance on her head".

The Starbucks was closed when this incident occurred.
