Baltimore Police Identify Officers Involved in Shooting of Fox 45 Suspect

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore Police have identified three officers who were involved in the shooting of a bomb threat suspect at Fox 45 TV station last week.

They are 29-year veteran Sergeant Frederick Gilbart, Jr., 23-year veteran Officer Robert Taylor and six-year veteran Officer Brian Loiero.

All are assigned to the SWAT team.

The 25-year-old man who strapped a fake bomb to his chest and walked into the station on Thursday, Alex Brizzi, has been charged with arson, malicious burning, reckless endangerment and possession of a phony destruction device.

Police say he threatened to blow up the station if they did not air a video of himself ranting about the end of the world.

Officers shot Brizzi before arresting him outside the station, after he would not comply with orders to remove his hands from his pockets.

He remains in the hospital in serious but stable condition.
