Hardy, Britton Injuries Cause Concern For Orioles

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Two Orioles sustained game-ending injuries over the weekend against the Chicago White Sox. J.J. Hardy fouled a ball off his foot and Zach Britton injured his left ankle while fielding a drag bunt by White Sox outfielder Adam Eaton.

Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy left the game in the sixth inning during Sunday's game after the injury. He had an X-Ray following the game and the injury was initially diagnosed as a left foot contusion. However, following a CT scan, Hardy is now expected to be out six-to-eight weeks due to the hairline fracture.

The Orioles will recall Ryan Flaherty from Triple-A Norfolk to fill Hardy's roster spot.

As for Britton, he told ESPN, "After I flipped the ball to Chris [Davis], I just kind of felt something and I didn't know if I stepped wrong -- I didn't feel like I rolled it or anything, my ankle, but just didn't feel very good."

Britton will undergo an MRI.

The Orioles have a day off on Monday before starting the series against the Yankees as Baltimore lost two in a row at Camden Yards for the first time this year.
