Maryland Men, Women Both Reach Final Four In NCAA Lacrosse

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The NCAA lacrosse semifinals are this weekend in Philadelphia, but you can bet quite a few Marylanders will be in the city of brotherly love.

The University of Maryland is the first school in NCAA lacrosse history to have both their men's and women's lacrosse programs enter the NCAA Tournament as top seeds, and for the third straight year, both teams are headed to the Final Four.

As far as men's lacrosse goes, both Maryland and Loyola are on fire entering Championship Weekend. The Terps have outperformed their expected output and Loyola has been pounding their opponents into the dirt too.

The No. 1 Maryland men's lacrosse team defeated No. 8 Syracuse, 13-7, in the quarterfinals last week and advance to play against Brown this weekend.

Loyola will meet North Carolina (10-6) at noon on Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The unseeded Tar Heels knocked off No. 3 seed Notre Dame, 13-9, to earn their first semifinal berth since 1993.

Noon on ESPN2: North Carolina vs. Loyola Maryland

2:30 p.m. on ESPN2: No. 5 Brown vs. No. 1 Maryland

There very well could be an all-Maryland final game at Lincoln Financial Field.
