SANDY POINT, Md. (WJZ/AP) — Police activity closed the eastbound span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge for more than an hour Thursday morning, as many in the region prepared to head to the shore for Memorial Day weekend.
Several outlets have reported that a man abandoned his truck on the bridge and was threatening to jump, but that first responders rescued him from an under-hanging portion of the span.
Maryland Transportation Authority Police spokesman 1st Sgt. Jonathan Green said by telephone that the bridge was closed around 6:30 a.m. and that the situation was resolved around 7:45 a.m.
