OC Beach Patrol Gearing Up For Busy Season

OCEAN CITY, Md. (WJZ)--This summer the Ocean City Beach Patrol is ready so you can enjoy your vacation without any worries.

Crews will be staffed 7 days a week to cover the 10-mile stretch of Ocean City's shore.

"You can come to the beach not think anything bad is going to happen and it can turn tragic," said Butch Arbin, Ocean City Beach Patrol Captain.

These dedicated men and women are a reassuring sight for parents, specially those with young swimmers.

"When we come out here, we usually pick a place next to the lifeguard stand because they do a great job and  I  feel much safer with the kids being right them," said Laura Rossi.

The beach patrol is also reminding swimmers to use common sense out in the water.

And their biggest message: keep your feet in the sand, until the lifeguard's in the stand.

"It's not worth your life to go before 10 o'clock or in the evening, just wait until the next day," said Arbin.

And if you're looking for a job this summer, the beach patrol is currently hiring lifeguards.

Beach patrol will be on duty every day from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. this summer.
