Coming into this much-anticipated four-game series with the Orioles, the Boston Red Sox had already established the fact that they were a good offensive team. The Red Sox lead all of Major league Baseball in runs scored, team batting average and on-base percentage.
The second-place Orioles are a club that is famous for its power. In winning the first two games of the series at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the first-place Red Sox have been the team flexing their muscle at the plate.
Boston has out-homered Baltimore 7-0 in the two contests. They have outscored the Orioles 13-4 in extending their lead in the AL East to three games.
Mookie Betts had a game to remember against Baltimore pitching on Tuesday evening. The Red Sox outfielder blasted three home runs to help Boston improve to 32-20 in 2016.
The Orioles have been having a hard time getting the bats going. They have been held to three runs or less in seven of their last 10 games.
