Former Detroit Lion Herman Moore On NFL Player Safety Issues

Herman Moore is a former NFL wide receiver best known for his time with the Detroit Lions throughout the 90's.

Herman joined Ed and Steve to talk about player safety issues in the NFL and how they will shape the future of the league for years to come.

Herman started by talking about the recent trend of players retiring early specifically Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson saying, "Calvin Johnson was a player who had some injuries he battled back but you get to a point where you ask when is enough enough, financially he's set...we look at his career as being short but that's a decade in a brutal sport."

When asked if the NFL will look the same 10 or 20 years from now Herman said, "I don't think so, you'll start to see players who play shorter careers won't be as remembered as the guys who played 17 years and are looked at as iron men." Herman also talked about how players retiring early could change the way teams start scouting players to find out how long they'd like to play.
