School System To Roll Out Changes In Wake Of Child Porn Case

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — Prince George's County schools officials will make several changes after a report found flaws in how employees are trained to identify and report suspected sexual child abuse.

The review, released Tuesday, is part of the school system's response to the arrest of a volunteer school aide accused of shooting videos of children having sex with him and each other.

A task force was created to review district policies and procedures after 22-year-old Deonte Carraway's arrest in February. Carraway, who was an aide at Judge Sylvania Woods Elementary School in Glenarden, now faces over a dozen charges. Police say some of the videos were made on school grounds.

Schools chief Kevin Maxwell says he'll work to implement all or most of the 61 recommendations detailed in the report.
