Femi Ayanbadejo Talks Perriman's Injury, Monroe's Comments + More

Former Raven Femi Ayanbadejo joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to talk Breshad Perriman's knee injury, the potential of the Ravens offense and Eugene Monroe's recent comments directed at the Ravens organization.

Initially, it was thought that Ravens WR Breshad Perriman tore his ACL in his left knee, but after getting his knee scoped by Dr. James Andrews, it turns out his ACL is not torn, and he is expected to return for the 2016 season. Perriman missed all of last season with a partially torn PCL in his right knee. Ayanbadejo talked about the struggles of overcoming an injury and proving negative fans wrong. "I have empathy for him…he's four or five games and three or four touchdowns away from people forgetting that this ever happened, and hopefully he'll get that opportunity."

With the additions of TE Benjamin Watson and WR Mike Wallace in free agency, along with the return of Perriman and TE Dennis Pitta, the Ravens passing game is looking to take a big step forward in 2016.   Ayanbadejo spoke on the potential of the Ravens offense next season. "Let's say Breshad is healthy, let's say Kamar [Aiken] continues to evolve, Mike [Wallace] can get back to his old self, Steve [Smith Sr.] is healthy, [Michael] Campanaro can get healthy, Pitta can get healthy. You start to really look at the potential of this offense…I think you should be excited about what's going to happen here."

Ravens OL Eugene Monroe has been a big advocate for the use of medicinal marijuana in the NFL. In a recently-deleted Tweet, Monroe said the Ravens "continue to distance themselves from me and my cause." Ayanbadejo gave his thoughts on Monroe's recent comments. "If you want to use your athletic platform to speak on topics that are near and dear to you, you have to do it with caution and at your own risk because I don't think everyone is going to get behind that necessarily, although I do believe it is trending in that direction."
