Ron Sirak is the Senior Writer for Golf Digest and published author.
Ron joined Ed and Steve live from Oakmont Country Club and the US Open.
Ron started by talking about what the players will be complaining about during this year’s U.S. Open saying “well the greens are going to be fast, but probably the thing you’ll hear the players talk about the most is there is more rough here than usual it’s going to be really thick and gnarly.” Ron talked about how even though players will complain the course favors great golfers saying “Oakmont never produces a bad champion, we’ve had eight previous champions here six of the eight winners at Oakmont are in the world golf Hall Of Fame.”
As for Rory McIlroy, who Ron thinks this course could favor, Ron talked about how special of a player he is saying “in the Tiger era only Phil Mickelson has five majors, and Rory is right there he’s won as many as anyone during the Tiger era.”
Ron also talked about how the weather could mess up this course by slowing down the greens and making the rough even tougher to play through.
