Steve Davis: So Who Goes For Gallardo? Not Tyler Wilson!

Yovani Gallardo will get activated before Saturday's game. That means the Orioles will have to make a roster move.

This will be interesting.

The one the fans would like to see would be the Orioles eating Ubaldo's contract. That seems unlikely. If they were going to do that, they probably would have done it earlier in the week.  The next obvious choice is Despaigne, who is the lowest man on the totem pole.  However, he is the long man out of the bullpen.  If they send him down, that means they have to rely on Ubaldo. That's a bad option. Maybe Tyler Wilson or Mike Wright?

If it's between them, you can't send Tyler down. He just had the best performance of his career. He was brilliant against a tremendous offensive team.  I guess that means Wright is on display tonight, since he avoided a trip to the minors when O'Day got hurt. However, if he goes, you're still short a starting pitcher.  Maybe it's Brian Duensing, but if you do that, you don't have a lefty specialist.  You get my drift.  This is a hard call.  One move could be going with 13 pitchers and sending down Janish.  However, he is about to get sent down anyway to make room for Hardy so that isn't much of a solution. Hmmm.

This is a really tough call.  As long as the Orioles carry Ubaldo, someone isn't going to be there that can help them more than he can.
