Summer Solstice Concert at the Rawlings Conservatory

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The sweet sounds of summer from Baltimore's own Gregory Thompkins will be heard tonight outside Baltimore's Rawlings Conservatory.

It's the 4th annual Summer Solstice Concert.

"So many people come out and just enjoy each other's company, enjoy the gardens," according to Kate Blom, the conservatory supervisor. "The conservatory stays open until 7 o'clock."

The event kicks off a busy summer season.

"It's going to be a lot of fun," Blom says. "Bring blankets, bring a chair, bring a snack. We will have some food vendors and we'll be selling some beverages."

"This is almost like the jewel of the city," Thompkins adds. "It's a completely beautiful night. So many people come out. We just have a great time, playing some music and enjoying some food and just hanging out."

He and his band will play traditional jazz from the 50s, 60s and 70s, all the way up to today.

The concert is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
