Harford County Library Gets $9M, State-of-the-Art Renovation

HARFORD COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)-- In Havre de Grace a brand new library $9-million renovation is about much more than books.

"We are super exciting because we tore down the library that was very small and we had outgrown," said Mary Hastler, CEO  at the Harford County Public Library "This is double the size of the old building, plus it goes up 2.5 stories."

For the youngest readers, the library's Schooner Cove is all about interaction--with plenty of space for kids to learn and play.

"He is very lucky to have such a beautiful space to come and spend time, look at books and explore," said Melisa Bailey.

Playing along with the library's nautical theme, Layfayette's Landing allows older children a place to learn and play and use state-of-the-art technology.

A ribbon cutting marks the official opening on Monday.

It's a space that is designed to be a special part of the community

"Come visit the city, come visit Harford County and come explore Schooner Cove, it's amazing" said Hastler.
