WEATHER BLOG: Hot, Quite Uncomfortable

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--Hot it was on Saturday. Dew points did stay rather high, making it quite uncomfortable. Highs topped at 98 at the airport and 99 Downtown, shy of the records.

Today will still be hot but not too humid with plenty of sun. Dew points during the day should drop into the lower 60s, making it feel a little less oppressive.

With a weak wind flow, sea breezes will develop along the coastal areas and keep temperatures down. We are currently going with highs in the mid-90s, shy of the record. Dew points will be low with the frontal boundary to the south. By tonight, the front will move northward as a warm front as winds shift back to the southwest.

Dew points will also increase tonight. There are hints that spotty showers and thunderstorms could develop along the front as it moves northward tonight. This could be something to mention, but at this time, we believe the area will stay dry and the better chance, if any storms develop, will be well to the north and west. Temperatures will surge yet again on Monday ahead of a storm system approaching from the west. It is not out of the question a couple locations could hit 100, including Washington D.C.!

The addition of humidity will make it feel oppressive. There is plenty of moisture and heat around for some thunderstorms late in the afternoon to be locally heavy and gusty. We still believe storms will be more spotty in nature and not everyone will see a thunderstorm. However, any that do develop could be locally strong. These thunderstorms could continue into the evening hours and perhaps through the overnight with the frontal boundary stalling near the area.
