Howard County Vehicle Pickup Info

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (WJZ) -- Owners of vehicles that were towed from the Main Street area of Ellicott City following this weekend's flooding can pick up their cars this week, Tuesday through Sunday, free of charge.

A total of 180 cars were towed to the parking lots of Centennial High School, located at 4300 Centennial Lane. Lots will be staffed by officers between 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., according to Howard County government officials.

To find out whether yours was among the vehicles towed, stop by the lots or call 410-313-2900. Owners should bring identification to claim their vehicles. If yours is lost due to the disaster, police will verify ownership through a series of questions and alternative methods. Cars may also be released to insurance adjusters with appropriate documentation.

For cars that are not drivable, owners should contact their insurance carriers to arrange for their removal. Property may be recovered from inside the vehicles, if needed. Any cars that go unclaimed by Sunday, Aug. 7 at 8 p.m. will be towed to a contracted storage facility at the owner's expense.

At present, authorities are still working to remove 50 additional vehicles from the Main Street area.
