Police: Man Carried a Mile in Fatal Hit-And-Run

ASPEN HILL, Md. (AP) — Police say a man was hit by a vehicle and carried about a mile away, where his body was found.

Montgomery County police said in a statement that the man was hit on Layhill Road in the Aspen Hill area around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. As officers and fire and rescue personnel responded, officials received a report of another collision at Bel Pre and Homecrest roads, where a man was found dead in the road. Police say the man was hit while crossing Layhill Road and carried to the spot where he was found. Police did not release details about the man.

Police are searching for the vehicle described by witnesses as a tan, 1999 to 2000, four-door Honda or Toyota. Investigators believe there's extensive damage to its front end.
