We don’t have enough time to detail all that’s Rio but here are three Olympians that are pure gold winners.

Michael Phelps: The Baltimore Bullet went out on his own terms (did he really retire?) and seemed to enjoy the experience more than any other in his legendary career. His gold medal last Saturday was number 23 (28 medals in all more than 90 countries). No other Olympian in the history of the games has more than 9 gold.

Usain Bolt: The 6’-5” Jamaican sprinter is Phelps on dry-land. Bolt is trying to match his achievement of claiming gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay at both Beijing 2008 and London 2012. Bolt expected to retire after the 2017 World Championships, is a perfect 8 for 8 in Olympic finals. Lightning Bolt!

Katie Ledecky:  The 19 year old Marylander made a big splash in Rio setting world records and dominating from 200-800 meters. Ledecky closed out Rio shattering her own world record in the 800-meter freestyle. She finished with four gold medals and a silver in the 4×100 freestyle relay. Awesome!

Here are a few more winners to add to the list:

Chris Davis: Is the Deputy back from his summer slumber? After going nearly a month with just one home run Davis had his first multi-homer game of the year last night and has 4 dingers in the last 6 games. He also has multi hits in 4 of his last 8 games, time for some law enforcement at the yard.

Kevin Gausman: Are you kidding me the Orioles got the right-hander 13 runs Thursday night. That’s more than a months’ worth for Gausman who usually sees a 1 or 2 on the Orioles side of the scoreboard when he pitches.

This week’s losers? That’s easy.

Tom Brady: Four games for air-pressure is bad enough but one game for mishandling a pair of scissors, ouch!

Darren Sharper:  The former NFL star sentenced to more than 18 years in federal prison following his guilty pleas in a plot to drug and rape women. “They didn’t deserve anything being a part of my heinous decisions,” he said sobbing. “I still don’t know why I lived my life right for 38 years, and then I took this path.”

Ryan Lochte (and friends): Not so cool out of the pool. From bad behavior to a worse cover-up they get the Ugly American gold medal.
