ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ)– There have been reports of people dressed as clowns in Annapolis, according to the Annapolis Police Department.

On Monday, a few children reported seeing someone or possibly more, dressed in clown costumes with face paint on in Annapolis. The children reported incidents that occurred as far back as Thursday in several different Annapolis neighborhoods.

It appears that only children have seen the person in the clown costume. Incidents were reported in the 700 block of Newtowne Drive, Bens Drive near Victor Parkway, and the 1400 block of Tyler Avenue.

The most recent sighting reportedly occurred around 8:30 a.m. on September 19 on Bens Drive. Police are asking the public to call 911 if they see someone in a clown costume.

There have been similar reports made in other states.

  1. Seriously? This has to be a stupid joke — I’ve been working Chevys in Annapolis on Mondays for kids night for the past 4.5 years and I dress as a clown because it is my job. Kids are supposed to call the police on me? Seriously?

Given that this appears to be spreading and has occurred in 3 (?) States now, I’m left wondering if this might not be a poorly conceived stunt related to the upcoming release of the remake of the movie IT. I really hope not, because scaring children and their parents in this way in the current climate is incredibly stupid and exceedingly dangerous.

Who would have thought that Donald Trump could appear in so many places at once?
