Kellogg Recalls 10,000 Cases of Eggo Waffles Due to Possible Listeria Contamination

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Kellogg is recalling approximately 10,000 cases of waffles due to possible Listeria contamination.

The recall is for their Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles with UPC code 3800040370 with a best if used by date of November 21, 2017 or November 22, 2017.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The company says they distribute to customers in 25 states, including here in Maryland.

Kellogg is asking that people who purchased the affected product to discard it and contact the company for a full refund.

Consumers can call 1-800-962-1413, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
