Ravens Cut Running Back Justin Forsett
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Just weeks after renewing his contract, the Baltimore Ravens and running back Justin Forsett have decided to mutually part ways.
"It was mutual," Forsett said Tuesday as he said goodbye to staff members. "I felt like my opportunity here was closing. I'm at a phase in my career where I don't want to sit; I want to play. I have a lot of football left in me."
Forsett was inactive during Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders and fans were already suspecting the worst. With Kenneth Dixon nearing a return and Terrance West putting up great numbers, it seemed inevitable.

Forsett saw limited action in the preseason before being released in a surprising move. He was then brought back under a new contract in the beginning of September.

On Monday, Coach John Harbaugh discussed the decision to deactivate Forsett.
"Justin Forsett is a highly-respected, highly-valued guy in my eyes and the eyes of all of us," Harbaugh said. "It is a competitive world that we are in. It is a competitive league; it is a competitive sport. He knows that as well as anybody. It doesn't diminish him in any way. It just enhances him, in my mind, in terms of how he handles it."
Apparently, Forsett spoke with General Manager Ozzie Newsome Tuesday morning and expressed a desire to move on to another team where he might have a better chance to play.
The Ravens organization says before Forsett left, he walked down to the staff wing of the Under Armour Performance Center and individually said goodbye to everyone.
"It's difficult to leave a place that gave me the opportunity to show what I could do, especially at a time when everybody said I was done," Forsett said.
