Judge Weighs Dismissal of Penn State Ex-Officials' Charges
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A new judge in the criminal case of three former high-ranking Penn State administrators charged over their handling of abuse complaints about Jerry Sandusky is deciding whether the case should go forward.
Judge John Boccabella heard arguments Thursday over what should happen with the charges of endangering the welfare of children and failure to properly report suspected abuse.
Defendants Graham Spanier, Tim Curley and Gary Schultz attended the proceedings, which could be the prelude to trial in the case that's now nearly five years old.
The judge is considering whether to toss the remaining charges, if the trial should be moved from Harrisburg and if the defendants should be tried separately.
Sandusky is a former assistant football coach convicted of sexual abuse of 10 boys. He's appealing a 45-count conviction.
