New MGM Casino Adds NYE Duran Duran Show To Lineup

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- With huge names in entertainment starting to announce shows at the soon-to-be-opened MGM casino in Oxon Hill, it's hard to believe that the site was just a plot of dirt not too long ago.

Earlier this month, it was announced that the $1.4 billion builiding will open Dec. 8.

On Monday, MGM announced that British rock band Duran Duran will take the stage on New Year's Eve and New Year's day, and earlier this month, shows from Bruno Mars, Cher, Panic! At The Disco and comedian Jim Gaffigan were announced.

In addition to nightlife, the 308-room resort and casino also boasts a 16,200-square-foot grand ballroom with a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows and 6,000-square-foot terrace with views of the Potomac River, a 4,284-square-foot bellagio ballroom, three 1,838-square-foot meeting rooms and two boardrooms.

Beyond the meeting spaces, the resort will also feature chefs including José Andrés, Marcus Samuelsson, and Bryan and Michael Voltaggio.

This time lapse video shows how the building has sprouted from the ground.
