Police: DE Man Stabbed 2 Roommates, Surrendered To Police In MD

LAUREL, Del. (AP) -- Delaware State Police say a Laurel man stabbed two roommates, then surrendered to police in Maryland.

Police said in a statement Monday that 29-year-old Dwight Shivers was asked to leave the home Sunday. Police say Shivers then took a kitchen knife from a drawer and stabbed a 20-year-old woman as she washed dishes, and her 24-year-old boyfriend.

Police say Shivers drove off, but pulled into the Maryland State Police barracks in Salisbury, and surrendered about 30 minutes later. The injured man was flown to a hospital in stable condition and the woman is expected to be treated and released.

Shivers is charged with driving under the influence and he's being held pending extradition to Delaware. Police say he'll be charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault and other offenses.
