Family Mourns Young Woman Killed By Boyfriend, Who Then Shot Himself

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- The family of 18-year-old Kayla Yow is mourning the loss of their daughter. Yow was shot and killed by her boyfriend, who then shot himself.

Yow's boyfriend, 22-year-old Da'von Markell Mullins, of Baltimore, was in the hospital under close watch, but was pronounced dead on Sunday.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to the 400 block of Glen Mar Road in Glen Burnie where they found Mullins suffering from upper body trauma, along with Yow, who died upper body trauma. There was a handgun recovered at the scene.

Anne Arundel Police received a 911 call from family members of Mullins saying they received several concerning text messages and were worried about his welfare.

Family and friends grieving for Yow held a vigil for her on Sunday evening.

"I wasn't going to believe it. It wasn't happening. Driving up here from Florida, it still wasn't happening, until I got here, and it's happening. There's no rule book for it. There's none. How do you handle it? How do you deal with it?" said Yow's father Todd Saletnik.

The family of Kayla Yow is looking for help to support funeral costs. They have set up a GoFundMe page.
