Baltimore Chef Featured On Food Network's 'Chopped'

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Baltimore chef Josh Hershkovitz is known for satisfying the cravings of pizza lovers at his restaurant, Hersh's, but now he's putting his culinary skills to the test on the hit Food Network show, "Chopped."

Hershkovitz has been making Italian comfort food for hungry crowds in Federal Hill for 5 years.

Hershkovitz's classic cuisine will be served on "Chopped" where his talents will be tested.

It's a race against the clock for competing chefs who are given a mystery basket of ingredients that must be used. After several elimination rounds a winner walks away with $10,000.

Chef Josh answered a casting ad on Craiglist and didn't know if he'd ever hear back.

"I thought it was a great opportunity to get word out about my restaurant, about what I love doing, about Baltimore," he said.

Chef Josh says customers have been asking about his appearance on the show, but he's not allowed to reveal the secret ingredients or who won.

He's created and competed against complicated creations, but always comes back to this to his favorite: pizza.

"My favorite food is pizza. I've got my favorite things on my arm, Pizza and my wife," said Hershkovitz.

Chef Josh's episode of chopped will air on the Food Network Tuesday night.
