NFL Play 60 and Ravens Fuel Up Kids to Be Healthy

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Fresh off a big win Sunday, the Ravens were back at M&T Bank Stadium Monday morning. They spent time with middle schoolers, teaching them how to play hard and eat healthy.

150 students from throughout Baltimore got quite the Monday morning workout. Ravens punter Sam Koch teamed up with the NFL Play 60 to promote physical activity and the importance of a good diet.

Fuel Up to Play 60 is all about eating healthy, exercising and making good decisions.

The 2015 pro bowl player made smoothies then fielded questions about his own routine.

"When I get up in the morning, I like to eat eggs. I like to get a protein, some sort of carbs, a little sodium and sugar to get the body rolling in the morning," said Koch.

Play 60 is a school-based program in more than 70,000 schools throughout the country.

"We are here to teach the kids about strategies and ways they can fuel up on and off the field through proper nutrition and physical activity," said LaChelle Miller, a registered dietitian.

"I cherish this part of the season to be able to educate these kids, on the valuable effects at a young age to have a good healthy breakfast early in the morning so that when they go to school, they are very attentive," said Koch.

"It gave me the confidence to eat more, more healthy stuff," said Emily Currie, a student ambassador. "Remember to fuel up to get the energy that you need for the day."

NFL Play 60 is the league's campaign to encourage kids to be active for at least 60 minutes a day to help reverse the trend of childhood obesity.
