BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Harbor East. The downtown neighborhood rings in the holiday season on Wednesday night kicking off their two-night music series.

"The series is called Merriment and Melodies and we are excited to put it on for a second year in a row," said Megan McCloskey, Harbor East Management.

Holiday decorations are lighting up every storefront and restaurant. Live music and performers and treats to satisfy sweet or savory cravings while shoppers scope out deals.

"A time of year where a lot of people are shopping, they need to check off their holiday list. Harbor East is one of the best destinations in Baltimore," said McClosky.

As an added holiday perk, shoppers who spend $200 dollars on Wednesday night purchases can pick up a free Christmas tree.

"We'll offer glasses of champagne so customers can sip and shop we'll have specials gifts with purchase. It's a great way to kick off the holidays and making shopping a little more fun and less stressful," said Angela Tandy, owner of shop Sassanova.

Hundreds are expected to join the stylish celebration, where jolly activities are planned for every age.

"Have all these people coming in together and with all the rest of businesses participating, really see a joy of holiday and cheer in people's faces is what we want to see," said Nader Abushkheidem, manager of Lebanese Taverna.

A festival showcasing Harbor East, driving in business during the merriest time of year. Merriment & Melodies is on Wednesday night until 9 and next Wednesday, December 14 as well.
