Santas Tap Dance Their Way Into the Holiday Season

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- A Baltimore holiday tradition returns as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore School for the Arts team up for a holiday extravaganza.

It's the rhythm of the holiday season.

"Just the joy and passion of being able to dance on stage for others just is enough for me to keep going," said Aaron Buchanan.

Buchanan is one of the 20 tap dancing Santas that will perform with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

The dancers are high schools students at the Baltimore School for the Arts, who have been practicing countless hours to get their moves just right for audiences attending three shows.

"The fact that they're working with a live orchestra. This is something that very, very few dance students get to do before they're professionals. So it's a wonderful learning experience for them," said Norma Pera, a teacher at the Baltimore School for the Arts.

"We're just thrilled to be surrounded by so much wonderful culture- art from not only professionals but also students as well," said Jamie Kelley of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

"It's a lot, because we're wearing a fat suit as well, so we're very hot. So it's gonna be a challenge but I think we're all ready for it, it's gonna be really good," said Buchanan.

If your would like to see the tap dancing Santas perform with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, during the Holiday Pops with Storm Large, tickets are still available for the three shows over the weekend at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.
