Capitals Struggle Against Maple Leafs In First Round Of Stanley Cup Playoffs

Rob Carlin, who covers the Capitals for Comcast Sportsnet Mid-Atlantic, joined Ed and Rob to talk about the Capitals letting their first round series against the Maple Leafs slip away.

The Capitals fell behind 2-1 in the series with the Maple Leafs. Carlin said, "credit to Toronto... they're playing better than anybody expected. The Caps are getting out coached. We all knew Mike Babcock is probably the best coach in the NHL, but we thought the Caps talent would overcome the coaching deficiencies."

As for what's going wrong for the Caps, Rob said, "the Caps are making uncharacteristic mistakes, last night on the tying goal Kevin Shattenkirk and Brooks Orpik took the same guy behind the net...it's like this team carries 40 years of history on their backs."

Rob also talked about some of the post game comments that led you to believe the Maple Leafs are just having fun while the Caps struggle under the pressure of expectations.

All three games so far have been decided in overtime.

Game 4 is Wednesday night.
