Substitute Teacher/Coach Arrested On Child Porn Charges

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Police say a 34-year-old man who has been a substitute teacher and coach at a Maryland elementary school is now behind bars on child porn charges.

Christopher H. Speights faces three counts of distribution of child pornography and six counts of possession of child pornography. Additional charges are also pending.

Maryland State Police learned that he is or has been a substitute teacher and basketball coach at Bradbury Heights Elementary School in Prince George's County, as well as a basketball coach with the South County Sports Academy.

The investigation into Speights began back in December 2016, when investigators in the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit got information about someone distributing child pornography.

Authorities identified Speights as a suspect, and during a search of his home, they report finding multiple electronic devices that had videos of child pornography on them.

The investigation in this case in ongoing.
