Thousand Of Marylanders Hit The Road For Memorial Day Weekend

BALTIMORE (WJZ) - If you are planning to get away this holiday weekend, you're not alone.

According to TripAdvisor, the Friday before Memorial Day is one of the busiest travel days of the year. The travel site says over a third of people taking off this weekend will leave sometime Friday. Of those traveling, 64% plan to drive and only 27% will flying to their destination.

More than 830,000 Marylander's are expected to travel today for the extended weekend, which could lead to backups on highways. The Maryland Transportation Authority advise travelers heading to Ocean City to watch out for delays along the Bay Bridge. They recommend leaving before 10 in the morning or after 10 at night to avoid the most traffic.
