BALTIMORE (WJZ) —   Police say that a Baltimore Police officer has been arrested after they say he committed theft and fraud while working for the police department in the Casino District.

Police say Steven Bagshaw, a 21-year-veteran of the police department was investigated by the Department Office of Professional Responsibility for committing theft and fraud.

Investigators also say along with theft and fraud, Bagshaw is accused of not showing up for work as scheduled, not properly documenting days off, and submitting overtime for hours not worked.

Police say Bagshaw received payment for services he did not work by defrauding the Baltimore Police Department, the City of Baltimore, and the Horseshoe Casino of time and attendance while receiving monetary compensation.

Bagshaw is charged with two counts of felony theft scheme and two counts of unauthorized removal of property. He has been suspended without pay after being charged with a felony.

In a statement, Baltimore Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said “Instances like this jeopardize public trust of the police department.”

“Anyone who wears this uniform or works for this agency in any capacity should know that this type of behavior will not be tolerated,” said Davis.
