3 Shot, 1 Dead Near Baltimore Police NW District Station

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Three people were shot Monday morning near the Baltimore Police Department northwest district station, and one of those victims died from his injuries.

It happened in the 5200 block of Fairlawn Avenue, near an auto parts yard, just before 11 a.m.

Police have put out surveillance images of the suspects who turned a quiet area into mayhem, when they opened fire at an auto body shop.

"It's everyday violence around here," one nearby resident said. "It just seem like nobody can do nothing about it."

The gunfire erupted as a pair of suspects ran to the outside of the shop on Fairlawn Ave. and started shooting, hitting three people and
killing at least one.

The shooting took place right across the street from the northwest district police station. Police say officers heard the gunfire, came outside, and saw two suspects running.

That is when a foot chase began.

One employee at the auto shop, who did not want to be identified, was working under a car when shots rang out.

"I just heard all these boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And I just seen everybody running," he said.

The suspects were able to get away and are still on the run.

The city is struggling to get a hold on the homicide rate.

Frustrations over those behind these brazen shootings are obvious.

"You have bad guys who don't care, don't care about anyone. They don't care about their parents, they don't care about their grandmother. They don't care about themselves. All they care about is whatever revenge, or retaliation, or beef, or whatever it is, whatever that bull crap is that they want to do and inflict harm on one another," police spokesman T.J. Smith said.

Detectives have been at the scene since 11 a.m. combing through evidence.

Police said this was certainly a targeted attack, and that the other victims are expected to survive.
