2 Teens Arrested, Charged For Alleged Armed Robbery At Baltimore High School

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Authorities announced Wednesday that two teens have been arrested for allegedly robbing a student of his car and money at a Baltimore high school on January 23.

The Baltimore Police Department says on Tuesday, they arrested Kevin Flythe, 19, and Kevin Mcconnell Jr. 17, for reportedly robbing a 17-year-old student of his car and money while in the parking lot of Baltimore City College.

"Honestly, I was a little freaked out. I wasn't sure how to feel," student Yashira Valenzuela said. "I was just like I hope that the student was OK mentally, I guess. That he wasn't that scarred."

The suspects were not students at City College, but school police say, they may have been casing other school parking lots for more victims.

"Yes, I'm surprised. My daughter told me this morning so many police in, around here now," one parent said.

"It's scary to know that the kids are in that source of danger somewhere where they go to school," another parent said.

Detectives say around 3 p.m. on the day of the incident, Flythe and Mcconnell, one of which who was armed, robbed the victim of his car and money and then on Tuesday detectives found the victim's car and both suspects attempted to flee but were later arrested.

"The occupants of the vehicle bailed and ran, and our officers were able to quickly and swiftly bring them into custody. At which time my officers recovered a loaded handgun," said Sgt. Clyde Boatwright of Baltimore City Schools Police.

The school is reminding students to stay vigilant; traveling in pairs and putting electronics and cell phones away while walking home.

City College High School Principal Cindy Harcum emailed students saying she was "saddened" by the report and added that City police will "increase patrols to the Coldstream/Homestead/Montebello community surrounding City College." And will "add police presence to the Loch Raven parking lot during dismissal."

Both suspects have been charged as adults with assault, robbery and theft.
